MX Player has released a new original crime thriller series called Virodh, which tells the story of a young sportswoman in western Uttar Pradesh whose life is turned upside down after the brutal murder of her father and brother. The series follows Kajri, played by Pritha Bakshi, as she fights to overcome the challenges and obstacles thrown her way.
Pritha Bakshi, who portrays Kajri, credits her fitness enthusiasm for helping her embody the character. She describes Kajri as a grounded individual full of hope and dreams in the face of adversity. Despite the odds, Kajri refuses to succumb to her ruthless uncle Brijbhan’s plans, who takes over the family’s business and plans to marry her off to Vishesh, the son of a powerful local politician.
Defying Brijbhan’s plans, Kajri elopes with her high school sweetheart Gagan, also known as Gogi, portrayed by Abhinav Ranga. Gogi is a javelin throw enthusiast, and the sports element in the show adds another layer of excitement and challenge. Abhinav Ranga discusses the rigorous training required for the javelin throwing scenes, which helped him understand the dedication and discipline athletes go through to excel in their fields.
However, their happiness is short-lived as Brijbhan retaliates by killing Gogi’s family, forcing Kajri to make a difficult choice. In a desperate attempt to save Gogi’s life, Kajri offers to marry Vishesh, but their wedding night turns into a violent shootout.
Directed and created by Rahul Dahiya, Virodh also stars Ashish Nehra, Manoj Rathi, Jaspal Kaur, Deepak Kapoor, Geetanjali Mishra, Rajbeer Singh, Vickey, Bhavana, and Simran. The show combines crime, sports, and romance, and the plot is full of twists and turns that keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
